Crutches Have Arrived!
600 pairs of forearm crutches donated by Thomas Fetterman and Trulife out of the UK finally arrived in October 2008! They were due to arrive in April, but a fire broke out on the ship and the crutches had to be offloaded in Dakar, Senegal. At that point they seemed to have disappeared into thin air! After many emails and months of detective work by all parties, it was discovered that they actually did arrive in Sierra Leone, but with the incorrect paperwork. With perserverance and lots of prayers, the crutches were finally released into the hands of our in-country partners, GGM-SL, and were distributed to the polio victims and amputees throughout Sierra Leone.
GGM-USA traveled to Sierra Leone in April 2009. Among the accomplishments was the distribution of 110 wheelchairs donated by the Universary Rotary Club, Wheelchair International, and the ProClub of Bellevue, Washington.
